INTERIOR DESIGN & MATERIAL SELECTION : FAMILY NEW BUILD

A bold yet timeless home in the heart of West Footscray

Balancing strong colour with warm textures, this new build was designed for family life with personality and practicality.

This new build in West Footscray was designed for a young family working closely with a local architect. I was engaged to guide the client through key design decisions, including hard materials, lighting, window treatments and cabinetry hardware.

My clients had a strong vision for their kitchen, inspired by a bold botanical green. They needed help pulling it all together into a cohesive scheme - that’s where I stepped in. Through concept design and material sourcing, I set the design foundations for the entire home.

The palette features soft vein beige porcelain tiles, engineered stone in a subtle pattern, and warm wool carpet for comfort underfoot. Botanical green wall tiles in the kitchen bring the vision to life, paired with 2PAC cabinetry and aged brass hardware in two profiles. MDF wall panelling was introduced to add depth and texture, while a linen blend sheer softens the spaces with warmth. Brushed nickel fixtures and carefully chosen lighting layer in practicality and atmosphere.

My involvement spanned from concept design and mood boards through to schedules, procurement and installation, ensuring every detail worked in harmony. The result is a highly liveable, welcoming home that reflects my clients’ style while supporting their busy family life.

“Marcia was our lifesaver during our knock down rebuild — we were completely overwhelmed with all the choices we needed to make and on how to balance costs and what we liked, and she came in and saved the day, at very short notice too.

Dealing with Marcia was absolutely seamless and we are so grateful that we had her involved. She was mindful of our budget at every step of the way, and her choices have been impeccable. We are so overjoyed with how our house looks, and she picked up on our aesthetic and style before we could even begin to articulate it ourselves.

Before working with Marcia we would have said that having a designer involved was out of our reach but the opposite proved true. I’m convinced we ended up saving money, especially for what we got. Even more importantly, we saved so much time and frustration. I would wholeheartedly trust Marcia to make every decision I need to make going forward with our house. Thank you, Marcia!”
